Beyda describes Gosnell's first R-rated cut as "a little spicy' when the film was shown in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2001, but admits he was surprised by the conservative reaction of test audiences to the film.
According to Beyda, parents come first.Scooby Dooadvance"reacted very badly" to this early version of the film, expressing particular anger at the film's premise of "Demons from outer space collect the souls of students."Audiences were offended by the use of words"mal"eu"alma' because of its religious overtones, Gosnell and company were forced to climb with them.action actors scooby dooliveRewrite the lines where the demons go"creatures"and souls were converted"Protoplasm' in an effort to make the film's nefarious monsters more palatable. Beyda also admits that in the R-rated version theScooby DooThe demons successfully infiltrate the Pentagon despite Scrappy-Doo's (Scott Innes) defeat, although this scene was also cut due to poor audience reaction.
Shaggy war ein Kiffer em James Gunn Original Scooby-Doo Cut
Based on a long-standing fan theory, the Gunn & Gosnell originalScooby DooThe cut contained several drug references that clearly indicate that Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) was a "marihuana." While some drug-related jokes, such as Shaggy falling in love with a girl named Mary Jane (Fisher Island from Gran Gatsby) or Musical Youth's "Pass the Dutchie", in which the camera pans towards a steaming Mystery Machine, made the final cut, while others were left out to maintain the film's family rating. Beyda describes one such omitted joke, in which the camera zooms in on the Mystery Machine to reveal a sign that reads "Bote - $ 5' before turning around to reveal a real clay pot in which Shaggy and Scooby (Neil Fanning) keep flowers.

Daphne and Velmas broke up in Scooby-Doo
Along with Shaggy's transformation from typical stoner to lovable goofball, Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Velma (Linda Cardellini) had very different character arcs.Original cut with R rating of Scooby-Doo🇧🇷 Beyda describes several scenes where Daphne and Velma have a romance that begins on the Spooky Island plane when Velma "Check"Daphne struggling with her luggage (this scene was later changed so Fred is looking at Daphne). The couple's blossoming romance supposedly intensifies beyond that.Scooby DooThe R-rated cut continues and Daphne and Velma's souls refuse to return to their respective bodies. Their original solution to restoring their own souls is described as "passionate kiss”, which is a far cry from the bouncing protoplasms that eventually made it to the final cut ofScooby Dooin 2002. Deleted scene from Velma's Scooby-Doo
In one of Beyda's strangest revelations, theScooby DooThe editor talks about another version of Velma's "You're too good to be true" scene at the Spooky Island Bar. While Velma's singing scene under the placebo effect of island soda has become one of the most famousScooby DooMoments just for her, Beyda confirms that there was another scene that was part of the "sassy version and the cool versionDualities that Gosnell filmed for the film. Instead, in Velma's bar deleted scene, Detective Mystery Inc. strips off her sweater and starts dancing around the tables to Cypress Hill's "Insane in the Brain," in what turns out to be a huge departure from the softly sung opening included on the 2002 film album.
Kent Beyda confirms the Coast Guard was obsessed with Spooky Island
the half wayScooby-Doo, Mary Jane, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby calls the Coast Guard from Spooky Island after witnessing the demons dragging several victims into the Rito Daemon's underground chamber. Mary Jane tells them "friends were kidnapped' before the two coast guards pick up the call, hang up and start cackling madly at each other. This scene was an ongoing source of debate forScooby Dooaudiences over the past two decades, with many fans rightly questioning what the Coast Guard's true motivations were for ignoring the gang's distress call. However, Beyda finally closes the book on this 20-year-old mystery, explaining that since most of Spooky Island was already under demonic control by this point in the film, the Coast Guard was definitely possessed.
Luna Ghost originally appeared at the end of the Scooby Doo story.
While Old Man Smithers (Nicholas Hope) Luna Ghost appears at the beginning ofScooby-Doo as the catalyst for Mystery Inc.The split came from their original involvement in the R-rated version at the end of the film. Smither's originally planned involvement was much more minimal, with Beyda confirming that he was initially just a bystander in the Spooky Island crowd when Scrappy-Doo was arrested, and portraying the Luna Ghost as a potential villain for one.Scooby DooConsequence.
Does the Gosnell cut still exist?
Though the ideas cut from the endScooby DooThe product has the potential to create a sonically different film almost entirely, Beyda believes it's doubtful that the necessary parts, or even Gosnell's original cut, still exist today. Beyda explains that due to the visual effects mess required to change entire parts of the R-rated cut, the original copies were reworked rather than creating new scenes from scratch. Furthermore, Beyda confirms that the original VFX companythe movie Scooby-Doovieused in 2001, Rhythm & Hues, "no longer exists', so it's unlikely the R-rated cuts were saved, although he admits he saved a few useless takes for his personal collection.
